HOW TO HOST A HOUSE PARTY
Have a party and invite your friends and family. Or screen for 50 people or less at your church or community center.
We make it easy for you with our House Party Kit. We’ve screened the film over 1000 times in 100 different cities and we’ve learned a few things along the way.
BEFOREHAND
- Pick a date for your viewing party. (Join us on November 8th and take part in the National House Party!)
- Post the party on http://whodoesshethink.bravenewtheaters.com
If it’s private, de-select the box that says, “This screening is open to the public. Please list it.”
- Think about what you need for the party. Do you have enough chairs? Do you want people to bring food or drinks? Do people need directions?
- Mail out postcards to invited guests.
Email or call others.
HOUSE PARTY
- Set up the viewing area with chairs.
- Put out snacks and drinks.
- When people arrive, let them know what the plan is. Here’s the suggested schedule if you’re joining us on November 8th, 2009 (see Join a Party):
2:30 — 2:45 informal chatting and introductions
2:45 — 4:15 show the film
4:15 — 4:30 short break
4:30 — 5:00 discussion with interactive talkback
- If this is a public event, have a sign up sheet so that you can contact people again.
AFTER
- Post a comment about your house party on our blog — http://wdstsi.wordpress.com
- Invite guests via email to read your comments.
